June 12th, 1429 - The Battle of Jargeau

After driving the English from Orleans, Joan of Arc led the French army in an attack on the fortress at Jargeau. The English defenders submitted and the Duke of Suffolk was captured.

Points of Interest:

  • The victory at Jargeau led to a great French counter offensive against the English.

  • Joan of Arc be convicted of heresy by Burgundians two year later and burned at the stake. She was canonized by the Catholic Church in 1920.
